My recent Education Week article contrasting union leader Albert Shanker’s original vision of charter schools 20 years ago with what we have today, prompted a number of negative responses from charter school champions.   The Fordham Foundation’s Education Gadfly, Nelson Smith of the National Alliance for Public Charter schools, and Andy Rotherham of Education Sector (aka Eduwonk) found my piece “shaky,” and “disappointing,” among other things.  So here’s a brief response to the critics.
