Summer Intern for TCF Policy Program

The Century Foundation, a nonpartisan public policy research foundation headquartered in New York City, is seeking summer interns for its policy program department. Interns will work with the foundation’s program staff, providing research, writing, and administrative assistance, and will be based at the foundation’s main New York office. Interns should be prepared to work on issues in a variety of domestic public policy areas. A strong background in economics or political science is preferred, along with a passionate interest in the field of public policy. Other preferred qualifications include strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills; computer experience with Windows, the Internet, Lexis-Nexis, and word processing. Summer Web Services Internship at The Century Foundation

The Century Foundation, a nonpartisan public policy research foundation headquartered in New York City, is seeking a summer intern for its IT and Web Services department. Interns will work with the foundation’s program staff, providing research, writing, and administrative assistance, and will be based at the foundation’s main New York office. Interns should be prepared to work on maintaining, developing and building the foundation's Internet presence and IT infrastructure. A background in web development and social networking is preferred, along with an interest in the field of public policy. Other preferred qualifications include strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills; experience with PHP, Drupal, Javascript. XHTML CSS and web design is highly desired. This internship position is paid.

Summer Communications Internship

The Century Foundation, a nonpartisan research foundation in New York City, is seeking a summer communications intern for its Public Affairs department. TCF supports books, papers, and other projects on a variety of economic and public policy issues.

Duties include the following: assistance with report dissemination and publicity, including events; database and mailing list maintenance; assisting with content development for the Web site, and general clerical assistance. Applicants should have an interest in public relations and current affairs. "Multi-tasking" and attention to detail are important, so is a good sense of humor. Applicants should be willing to make phone calls to members of the media and other organizations. Web skills are also a plus.

The Century Foundation Summer Internship Program

The Century Foundation is seeking bright, outgoing students to intern at select progressive, non-profit organizations in New York City.

Century Foundation Interns will work for a progressive organization to be selected by The Century Foundation (TCF). The organizations, all located within the five boroughs of New York City, include social service, community service, public policy, and advocacy groups, whose work benefits the people of New York City. TCF will work to achieve the best match possible between the intern and the organization. However, placements will be at the discretion of The Century Foundation and the host institution.

This is a full-time, paid, ten-week internship program, beginning in June and ending in mid-August.

Applicants should be undergraduate or graduate students with an interest in public policy and civic engagement (undergraduate students should be completing their sophomore or junior year in the spring semester of 2010). They should have an interest in issues relating to public service and issues impacting New York City, a capacity for multi-tasking (with attention to detail), and a collegial nature. Responsibilities will vary by institution and may include research assistance, writing reports, providing administrative support, organizing and promoting events, working with constituent organizations, and interacting with the public and members of the policy community. Please note all students are responsible for securing their own housing arrangements for the duration of the program. Priority will be given to applicants who live or attend school in the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut region.

Century Foundation Interns will also attend events at The Century Foundation during the summer, including a reception at the start of the internship and several progressive policy lunch seminars.
