The Century Foundation, a non-partisan think tank, seeks a Policy Program Assistant to work closely with the Century Foundation’s fellows in the Washington, D.C. office and to act as liaison between the D.C. office and the Century Foundation’s headquarters in New York. The primary responsibilities for this position include providing all forms of research and administrative support to fellows in the D.C. office and communicating with the N.Y. office regarding all administrative needs.

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

·         Act as liaison with the New York staff on joint concerns such as meeting logistics, publications, press relations, and daily administrative issues.

·         Assist Century Foundation fellows with research pertinent to their current projects, which concern education policy and foreign policy.

·         Perform all administrative duties relating to the policy program department in D.C.

·         Assist in the coordination of task force meetings and other events, including compiling invitation lists, making confirmation calls, assuring smooth set-up, and transcribing proceedings.

·         Handle telephone and written correspondence, including communication with high-level officials.

·         Assist with travel arrangements for staff and outside participants to events.

·         Provide basic tech assistance to fellows and serve as liaison with building’s tech support team.

 

Qualifications:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

·         Curiosity and eager willingness to engage a broad and evolving set of public policy issues, particularly within the domains of education policy and foreign policy.

·         Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office, including advanced functions.

Economic Policy Researcher/Fellow

The Century Foundation, a public policy research institution headquartered in New York City, is seeking an economic policy researcher/fellow who is particularly knowledgeable about macroeconomics and the federal budget. The researcher would be responsible for preparing issue briefs, blog posts, and other published material analyzing economic challenges in the United States particularly in the context of debates over federal fiscal policy. As a progressive think tank, The Century Foundation supports policy ideas with a strong potential to promote broadly shared prosperity. Responsibilities include:

—Conduct research and analysis on federal budgetary policy.

—Co-author and author policy papers and reports.

—Contribute frequent blog posts.

—Prepare articles and op-eds.

—Work closely with counterparts in other institutions.

Requirements:

—Excellent research, analytical, and written communications skills.

—Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal policy issues, including the history of tax reform, public investment, and social insurance.

—Comfort with working under pressure, with short-term deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

—Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

—Master’s or Ph.D in economics.

—Demonstrated excellence in research and analysis of relevant topics.

—Demonstrated ability to write clearly about complex issues.
